General Boat Laborer / Yard Worker
Full Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION: Yard Crew
Job Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to the following):
- Report directly to Manager and communicate directly with department heads
- Properly manage time, communicate, and prioritize projects with Management
- Help coordinate shared workspaces with other Departments to ensure fulfilling obligations to our customers
- Help to ensure the Yard is safe and industry-compliant, and employees receive proper training
- Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of the facility and equipment.
Ensure safety issues specific to the general facility are identified before they occur & take steps to prevent them
- Work with Department Managers, Project Manager and Services Manager to understand the projected off season work load. Includes planning and organizing the off-season storage layout for maximum efficiency
- Property maintenance (plowing and sanding)
Customer Boats:
- Inventorying all boats, dinghies, outboards
- Pressure washing, scraping, sanding and applying paint to bottoms of vessels
- Vessel cleaning
- Basic vessel repair including mechanical and carpentry
- Pump outs
- Assisting with launches and hauls
- Arranging stands and blocking
- Seasonally inventory, protect and organize customer’s boats, related property in storage and return when called for
Company Vehicles/Equipment/Buildings:
- Inspect various pieces of equipment as issues arise, report and repair all findings when possible
- Routine facility maintenance
- Organize and protect Boatyard property
Skills and Education Specifications:
- Must be comfortable working on boats in the water (physically agile with no fear of the water) as well as working on boats in the shop
- Good interpersonal skills & the ability to deal with all levels of employees from skilled labor to upper management
- Exemplary verbal communication skills
- Ability to resolve conflict and maintain a professional and positive attitude with both customers and employees

This includes use of all PPE & Safety Equipment as mandated by Belmont Boatworks LLC, State of Maine and/or OSHA regulations. We must insist on this not only for your own safety but also for the safety of your fellow employees and our customers.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 – $19.00 per hour
